YOUR VILLAGE HALL NEEDS YOU!

YOUR VILLAGE HALL NEEDS YOU!

Houghton Village Hall is used extensively by villagers for regular classes and clubs (e.g. yoga, bowls, W.I., karate) as well as for one off events like children’s parties and family celebrations.

It run entirely by volunteers, led by a committee of trustees. To ensure the long-term viability of the hall, more volunteers are desperately needed.

Our current chair of Trustees, Deb Tull, is stepping down at the AGM in early 2025. Can you take over this role? As Chair you are often the representative for the Village Hall, in addition to chairing the meetings and coordinating or overseeing the various tasks the committee members are undertaking.  The committee members are experienced in their roles and the hall has good overall governance. Contact Deb on debtull22@outlook.com for more information.

We also need additional volunteers for the maintenance team. This group, led by Dave Pugh, looks after regular maintenance tasks (e.g. changing lightbulbs and adjusting doors), as well as taking the lead on larger tasks such as decorating and general building repairs. If you enjoy DIY, or have suitable experience, and can spare a few hours a month, please contact us on bookings@houghtonvillagehall.org.uk.

Finally, we also need more greeters to open and close the hall for one off events. If you could spare a couple of hours approximately one weekend a month, please get in touch with Juliet Bailey at bookings@houghtonvillagehall.org.uk. We provide training and a checklist for each event.

Please help to keep our hall running.
